Maher Centre welcomes weddings from every South Indian community: Tamil, Malayali, Telugu and Kannadiga families, whether Hindu, Christian or Muslim. One pillarless 1,100m² hall for up to 1,000 seated or 1,500 standing, a 350+ space free car park, a full 12-hour booking and your choice of caterer, five to ten minutes from M1 Junction 21.
South Indian weddings in the UK vary a great deal from one family to the next. What many have in common is a long guest list, a timetable that matters, and a meal that the family cares about getting right. The venue's job is to make all of that easy.
Our main hall is a single-storey, pillarless 1,100m² space, so every guest has a clear view of the stage. It holds up to 1,000 seated, with step-free access throughout, accessible toilets and air conditioning. Staging is included with hire, and outside there is a 350+ space free, privately owned, floodlit car park.
The venue is run by Maher Community Association (Leicester) UK, a registered charity, and has hosted Leicester families since 1996. Our reputation has been built on word of mouth.

Each page below covers the practical side of hosting that wedding at Maher Centre. Customs differ between families and regions, so we follow your lead.
Booking times planned around your muhurtham, a stage for the ceremony and room for a large family gathering.
Tamil wedding venueHindu, Christian and Muslim Malayali weddings and receptions, with space for a sadya or a buffet served by your caterer.
Malayali wedding venueCeremony and reception in one hall, with set-up time built in so the stage is ready at the time your family has chosen.
Telugu wedding venueKannadiga weddings of every size, with seating that keeps every guest facing the stage and a kitchen ready for your caterer.
Kannada wedding venueSouth Indian Christian and Muslim families are equally welcome, whether you are holding a full wedding day or a reception after church or mosque. Also see our Hindu wedding venue page.
Not every family needs all of these. These are the questions we are asked most often.
Many families have a muhurtham chosen by their priest or elders, and it can fall early in the morning. Tell us the time and we plan the booking around it.
Staging is included. Your decorator can build a mandap, manavarai or reception stage at the head of the hall, in full view of every seat.
Some families serve a seated banana leaf meal, others a buffet. Your caterer works from our industrial kitchen either way.
If your family includes nadaswaram, chenda or other live musicians, they are welcome. The full PA system carries sound to the back row.
Up to 1,000 seated in one room, so nobody is sent to an overflow space or sat behind a pillar.
Two private en-suite dressing rooms for the couple and close family to change between the ceremony and the reception.
Every booking covers a full 12 hours, including supplier set-up and pack-down. Decorators typically need around two hours at each end, which leaves up to around eight hours for the wedding itself. Nothing ever feels rushed.
That gives room for a ceremony, a meal and a reception in the same day, or simply a relaxed pace for guests travelling from across the Midlands. If you would rather hold the reception on another day, we can quote each function as its own booking, and many families book an engagement or pre-wedding event with us too.
An event manager and caretaker are on duty throughout, with three car park and WC attendants, and the full venue clean-up is included.
See our capacity and layouts page for more detail, and our wedding packages for banqueting, bar and upgrade options, from chair styles to a crystal chandelier and a 7m LED screen.
Yes. Maher Centre does not do catering. You can bring the caterer your family already trusts, or we can recommend one from our partner network after meeting you. Third-party suppliers are welcomed through our Partner Programme.
Your caterer has use of our industrial kitchen, with four burners, free gas supply and refrigeration. Beef and pork are not served on the grounds of the Maher Centre.
The bar is entirely optional. Plenty of weddings here are alcohol-free, and corkage and bar hire are available if you want them.
A 350+ space free, privately owned, floodlit car park, with attendants on duty during your event. Guests are not hunting for street parking. Save a fortune on parking fines.
