Maher Centre hosts Malayali and Kerala weddings and receptions in Leicester for up to 1,000 seated guests in one pillarless 1,100m² hall. Morning ceremonies, sadya served by your caterer, staging included and free parking for 350+ cars, all within a full 12-hour booking.
If you are planning a large Malayali wedding in the Midlands, the practical questions usually come first. Will everyone fit? Can our caterer cook here? Where will everyone park? Maher Centre answers all three in one building.
The main hall is a single-storey, pillarless space of 1,100m², so there are no obstructed views and no guests split across separate rooms. It seats up to 1,000 at round tables, and it sits 5 to 10 minutes from M1 Junction 21, with easy reach from Birmingham, Nottingham, Coventry and Northampton.
We have been running events since 1996, and much of our work still comes through word of mouth. We host families of many backgrounds, and our team follows your plans rather than a fixed template.

Yes. Kerala Hindu ceremonies are often fairly short and held in the morning, and some couples marry at a temple first and come here afterwards. Customs vary by family, community and region, so you and your priest decide the details. Here is how the venue supports them.
Staging comes with your hire, so your decorator has a base for the ceremony stage at the front of the hall. Optional tiered front steps and a crystal chandelier are available as upgrades.
If your ceremony includes the tying of the thali and the giving of the pudava, the pillarless layout means guests at every table can see the stage.
Many families place a traditional lamp on stage. Share your décor plans with your event manager early, so the stage is set up the way you want it.
Nadaswaram or chenda melam musicians are welcome. The full PA system covers speeches and announcements across the whole hall.
Tell us your ceremony time and we plan arrival, set-up and seating around it.
Two private en-suite dressing rooms give the couple and family space to get ready and to change for the reception.
Every booking covers a full 12 hours, including supplier set-up and pack-down. Around two hours at each end is typical, leaving up to about eight hours for your event. Nothing feels rushed.
Your event manager and caretaker are on duty throughout, alongside three car park and WC attendants.
Yes. Maher Centre does not do catering, so the menu and service are entirely up to you and your caterer. Many Malayali families choose a vegetarian sadya served on banana leaves; others prefer a buffet or a mixed menu for a reception. Your caterer works from our industrial kitchen, which has four burners, a free gas supply and refrigeration.
If you do not have a caterer yet, we can recommend one from our partner network once we have met you and understood your plans. If you already have a caterer in mind, they are welcome through our Partner Programme. Beef and pork are not served on the grounds of the Maher Centre.
Round tables are standard for banquets. If you want long rows for a seated sadya, discuss the layout with your event manager and your caterer at the planning stage.
A bar is optional. Many wedding meals here are alcohol-free, and families who want drinks at an evening reception can add corkage or bar hire.
Banquet-style at round tables, for a sit-down meal with the stage at the front of the hall.
A reception layout with space cleared for dancing, plus an optional LED dance floor.
Rows of seats facing the stage, for a ceremony with a very large guest list.
The hall is air-conditioned, step-free throughout and has accessible toilets and free guest Wi-Fi. See every layout on our capacity page, and compare furniture and bar options on wedding packages.
