Where can you hold a big birthday party in Leicester?

Some birthdays deserve more than a back room at the pub. When it's Dad's 60th and every cousin, neighbour and old friend is coming, or your 30th has turned into a 400-person night out, you need a hall that fits everyone, a dance floor that stays full and somewhere for all those cars to go.

That's Maher Centre. One 1,100m² hall, single-storey, air-conditioned and pillarless, so nobody gets stuck behind a pillar during the speeches. It seats up to 1,000 for dinner and takes 800 with a dance floor. You bring the guest list and the playlist; we'll handle the room.

An honest word on size: we're one large hall, not a set of small party rooms. For 50 guests the room may feel too big. For 200 and upwards, it really comes alive.

How the day works

How long do you get for a birthday party at Maher Centre?

A full 12 hours, including setting up and packing down. Most parties use around two hours either side for suppliers, which leaves up to about eight hours of celebration. Nothing ever feels rushed.

Afternoon set-up

Décorator dresses the room, caterer gets the kitchen going, DJ sound-checks.

Grand entrance

Guests park on site and take their seats. Lights down, sparklers up, the birthday star walks in.

Dinner & speeches

Food from your caterer, a slideshow on the LED screen, a few embarrassing stories and the cake.

Dance the night away

Dance floor open. When it's over, we handle the full venue clean-up.

Food and cake

Maher Centre doesn't do in-house catering, which means you're free to choose the food your family actually loves. Pick a caterer from our partner network, teams who know the venue inside out, or bring your own. Your caterer works from our industrial kitchen with four burners, a free gas supply and refrigeration. Beef and pork are not served on the grounds of the Maher Centre, so families who keep halal or vegetarian can relax, and everyone else simply plans the menu around chicken, lamb, fish and vegetarian dishes. Bring your own cake maker, dessert table or sweet cart too.

Drinks

A bar is entirely optional, and alcohol-free parties are completely normal here. If you want one, our corkage and bar hire comes in three tiers, from bar facilities only to bar staff and glassware. We can supply the drinks or point you to a specialist bar company.

How many guests can I invite to a birthday party at Maher Centre?
Up to 800 guests with a dance floor, or 1,000 for a seated dinner. The hall is one pillarless 1,100m² space and works best for parties of around 200 guests and above.
Is Maher Centre too big for a small birthday party?
It can be. Maher Centre is one large hall, not a set of small party rooms, so for a gathering of 50 or 60 it may feel too big. For big family birthdays, 200, 400 or 800 guests, it is ideal. If you're unsure, tell us your numbers and we'll give you an honest answer.
Can we bring our own caterer and cake?
Yes. Maher Centre doesn't do in-house catering: choose a caterer from our partner network or bring your own, along with your cake maker. Your caterer uses our industrial kitchen. Beef and pork are not served on the grounds of the Maher Centre.
Can we have a DJ, live band and dance floor?
Yes. The hall has a full PA system and ambient LED lighting, and you can add an optional LED dance floor. Bring your own DJ or band, or ask us to recommend one from our partner network.
Can we have a grand entrance with sparklers?
We love a showstopping moment. Cold sparklers, a crystal chandelier, tiered front steps and LED screens are all optional upgrades. Confetti and pyrotechnics are welcome too, subject to written approval.
