For promoters

What does a promoter get when they hire Maher Centre for a fight night?

A big, open, single-storey hall that you can shape around your ring. There are no pillars anywhere in the room, so the ring goes dead centre and every table, row and VIP seat looks straight at the action. Leaving no ticket-holder sat behind a pillar.

Fight nights are a regular part of our calendar, from licensed professional shows to white-collar charity nights where office colleagues step through the ropes for the first time. The format changes. What promoters tell us they care about stays the same: ring space, ringside tables that sell, a capacity that makes the numbers work, an easy load-in, and a venue team that plans the night with them rather than leaving them to it.

  • 1,100m² of clear floor for the ring or cage, walkways and ringside rounds
  • Up to 1,200 guests in a boxing or sporting dinner layout
  • 2 private en-suite dressing rooms for red and blue corners
  • Full PA system and ambient LED lighting already in the room
  • Optional large LED screen, 7m wide, plus LED side screens for replays, sponsor loops and walk-on graphics
  • Air-conditioned throughout, which matters with a full house and hot lights

Capacity & layouts

How many people can you fit around the ring?

It depends on whether your crowd is eating, sitting in rows or standing. Here's how the hall works for combat sports.

Planning the night

What does fight night look like inside a 12-hour booking?

Every booking covers a full 12 hours, including your set-up and pack-down. For a fight night that usually means:

Load-in & ring build

Your ring crew, AV and caterer arrive. Single-storey building, car park outside, no stairs or lifts to fight with.

Weigh-ins & checks

Fighters settle into the two en-suite dressing rooms. Officials and medics get set up where you've planned.

Doors & dinner

Your stewards open the doors, guests park on site and find their tables. Dinner served before the main card.

Bouts & pack-down

Walk-ons, the card, the main event. We handle the full venue clean-up afterwards.

Load-in and set-up

The hall is all on one level, so ring sections, flight cases and catering equipment roll straight in. Vans park in our private car park while crews unload. Allow roughly two hours either side for build and strip; if your ring crew needs longer, tell us when you book and we'll plan the timings with you. Nothing ever feels rushed.

Security and stewarding

Promoters bring their own licensed door supervisors and stewards, sized to the show. Before the night, our event manager walks through the plan with you: entrances, ticket checks, the route from the dressing rooms to the ring, where the crowd is kept back, and how people leave. On the night our own team, an event manager, a caretaker and three car park and WC attendants, look after the building, toilets and car park so your staff can focus on the crowd.

Licences, officials and medical cover

We don't hold or issue fight licences. Sanctioning, officials, ringside doctors, paramedics and any permissions your show needs are arranged by the promoter, in line with your governing body. Tell us what your paperwork needs from the venue and we'll help.

Food and drink

Sporting dinners live or die on getting a hot meal out to a full room before the first bell. Your caterer works from our industrial kitchen, with four burners, a free gas supply and refrigeration. Choose a caterer from our partner network, teams who already know the venue, or bring your own. Beef and pork are not served on the grounds of the Maher Centre, so plan menus around chicken, lamb, fish and vegetarian dishes. A bar is optional: we offer corkage and bar hire in three tiers, or can refer you to a specialist bar company.

Parking and getting here

Fight crowds arrive together and leave together. Our free 350+ space private floodlit car park means guests aren't circling side streets or collecting parking tickets. Save your crowd a fortune on parking fines. We're five to ten minutes from M1 Junction 21, so fans and fighters can travel in easily from Birmingham, Nottingham, Coventry and Northampton.

Before you book

What should a promoter ask when choosing a fight venue?

Popular Saturdays book up early, so lock in your date before you announce the card. Come and see the hall: tours are by appointment and take about 30 minutes. Bring your ring dimensions and we'll talk through the layout on the spot.

Promoter questions

Fight night FAQs.

How many people can watch a boxing show at Maher Centre?
Up to 1,200 guests in a boxing or sporting dinner layout, with banquet rounds and rows set around the ring. For a seated dinner without the ring footprint the hall holds 1,000, and standing or theatre-style events go up to 1,500. The hall is 1,100m² and pillarless, so every seat has a clear view of the ring.
Do you provide the ring?
The ring, cage or matted area is normally supplied by the promoter or their ring hire company. We give you a clear, flat, single-storey floor to build it on, and the event manager agrees the ring position, walkways and table plan with you in advance.
Are there changing rooms for fighters?
Yes. There are two private en-suite dressing rooms, which promoters typically use as red and blue corners. If you need extra space for officials, weigh-ins or medical checks, talk to the event manager when you plan the layout.
Who arranges security and stewarding?
The promoter arranges licensed door supervisors and any stewarding the show needs, and agrees the plan with our event manager before the night. On the day our team includes an event manager, a caretaker and three car park and WC attendants, but they are there to run the venue, not to provide event security.
Who handles licences, sanctioning and medical cover?
Those sit with the promoter: your sanctioning body or governing body requirements, officials, ringside medical cover and any event permissions. We will make the venue work around your requirements and share what you need from us for your paperwork.
Can we serve food at a sporting dinner?
Yes. Your caterer works from our industrial kitchen, which has four burners, a free gas supply and refrigeration. Caterers come from our partner network or you can bring your own. Beef and pork are not served on the grounds of the Maher Centre, so menus are built around chicken, lamb, fish and vegetarian dishes.
Can we have a bar?
Yes, if you want one. Corkage and bar hire is optional and comes in three tiers, from bar facilities only up to bar staff and glassware. We can supply the drinks or refer you to a specialist bar company.
