Maher Centre hosts Gujarati weddings, garba and raas nights and receptions in one pillarless 1,100m² hall in Leicester: up to 1,000 seated or 1,500 standing. Bring your own Gujarati or Jain caterer, park 350+ cars on site, and take a full 12 hours so nothing ever feels rushed.
Leicester is home to one of the largest Gujarati communities in the UK, and a Gujarati wedding guest list reflects it. Relatives from Leicester, London and further afield, family friends, the whole street. The day needs a hall that can hold everyone without splitting the family across rooms.
Maher Centre has been run by a Leicester registered charity since 1996, and much of our wedding business comes by word of mouth. The main hall seats up to 1,000 at banquet tables, all facing the mandap without a pillar in sight.
For many families the celebration runs over several days. Some functions, such as the mandvo mahurat or pithi, often take place at home. The bigger gatherings are where we come in: the garba or raas night, the wedding day with its mangal fera, and a reception if you are holding one separately.

Yes, and it is one of the things the hall does best.
Garba needs open floor, not tables. With up to 1,500 standing in a pillarless hall, the circles can grow as big as the evening wants.
The full PA system supports live garba singers and dhol, or a DJ mixing Bollywood and Gujarati folk. Our partner network includes DJs who know the room.
Ambient LED lighting sets a festive colour scheme, and an optional LED dance floor adds sparkle for the dandiya raas.
Your caterer serves from our industrial kitchen. Many families keep garba nights fully vegetarian, and Jain options are arranged by your caterer.
The hall is air-conditioned throughout, which guests appreciate after the third round of garba.
Single-storey, with parking on site. Elderly relatives are not walking from a distant car park late at night.
Your pandit leads the rituals. Here is how the venue supports each stage within the 12-hour booking.
Your mandap decorator, florist and caterer set up in the first couple of hours of the booking.
The jaan dances through the car park to the entrance, where the bride’s mother welcomes the groom.
Madhuparka, kanyadaan, hasta milap and the mangal fera around the sacred fire. Discuss the havan setup with us beforehand.
The seven steps, the sindoor and mangalsutra, and blessings from the elders, all clearly heard through the PA.
Guests stay at their tables while your caterer serves. Pure vegetarian or Jain, as you choose.
Joota chupai and the ring-finding game in the kansar or milk bowl, with plenty of room for the crowd to gather.
The emotional farewell, with the car brought round on our private car park.
Suppliers pack down at the end of the booking; our team handles the full venue clean-up.
Maher Centre does not do in-house catering. Choose the Gujarati caterer your family trusts, or let us introduce you to one from our partner network, teams who already know the venue inside out. They work from our industrial kitchen with four burners, free gas supply and refrigeration.
Beef and pork are not served on the grounds of the Maher Centre, which many vegetarian families find reassuring.
Many Gujarati weddings are alcohol-free and the bar is entirely optional. If you would like one, corkage and bar hire comes in three tiers.
Our optional banqueting packages cover chairs, round tables, linen, cutlery, crockery and serving ware, from red banquet chairs up to Chiavari chairs. See the wedding packages for details.
