The short answer

Can Maher Centre host our whole Hindu wedding day?

Yes. Leicester families have trusted Maher Centre with their weddings since 1996. The hall is a single-storey, pillarless banquet space, so the mandap can sit at the front with every guest facing it. No one is tucked behind a pillar during the pheras, and nobody needs to move rooms for the meal.

You choose the people who make the day yours: your pandit, your mandap decorator, your caterer and your DJ. We provide the space, the infrastructure and a team that knows exactly how a Hindu wedding day comes together. An event manager and caretaker are on duty all day, three attendants look after the car park and toilets, and the full venue clean-up is included.

Planning several functions? We regularly host mehndi nights, sangeet evenings and receptions for the same family across the wedding week.

How the day flows

What does a Hindu wedding day look like at Maher Centre?

Every family and every pandit does things a little differently. Here is how a typical day uses the 12-hour booking.

Suppliers set up

Your mandap decorator, florist, caterer and DJ arrive at the start of your booking. Around two hours is usual to build the mandap and dress the tables.

Baraat and welcome

The groom’s family gathers in the private car park and dances its way to the entrance with the dhol. The bride’s family greets them at the door for the welcome rituals.

Ceremony at the mandap

Ganesh puja, jaimala, kanyadaan, hasta milap and the pheras around the sacred fire, timed to your muhurat. Guests watch from banquet tables or theatre-style rows.

Wedding meal

Your caterer serves from the industrial kitchen: four burners, free gas supply and refrigeration. Pure vegetarian menus are the norm for many families.

Reception and vidaai

Speeches, first dance and the dance floor, then the emotional vidaai.

Pack-down

Suppliers clear their equipment in the final stretch of the booking. Our team handles the full venue clean-up.

Nothing feels rushed

With up to around eight hours of event time, there is room for every ritual, every photo and every relative’s speech.

One point of contact

Your event manager is on duty from set-up to close and keeps suppliers to the agreed plan.

Ritual by ritual

Practical answers for each part of the ceremony.

The questions Hindu families most often ask us during a venue tour.

The mandap position

Most families place the mandap on stage at the head of the hall so every seat has a clear view. The mandap venue guide covers layouts, sightlines and set-up in detail.

The sacred fire (agni)

The pheras centre on the agni. Discuss the havan kund with us in advance so the setup is agreed with your decorator and our team before the day.

Sound for the pandit

The full PA system means the mantras and the pandit’s explanations reach the back row, which matters when guest lists run into the hundreds.

Changing between outfits

Two private en-suite dressing rooms give the bride and groom somewhere calm to get ready and change between the ceremony and the reception.

Shoes off at the mandap

Families often set aside an area near the stage for shoes and keep a few relatives on watch for the traditional joota chupai. Your decorator can dress the spot.

Confetti and petals

Flower petal showers and confetti are welcome, subject to written approval. We love a showstopping moment.

Food and drink

Can we have a vegetarian Hindu wedding meal here?

Yes, and plenty of families do. Maher Centre does not provide catering, so the menu is entirely your choice. Many Hindu families book a pure vegetarian caterer, and Jain requirements (no onion, garlic or root vegetables) are handled by the caterer you choose.

You can bring your own caterer, or ask us to recommend one from our partner network: trusted teams who already know the kitchen, the loading access and how the hall turns around. After meeting you in person, our team suggests partners suited to your day. Beef and pork are not served on the grounds of the Maher Centre.

Many Hindu weddings are alcohol-free. If you would like a bar for the reception, it is optional: our corkage and bar hire comes in three tiers, from bar facilities only up to bar staff and glassware.

Before you book

What to ask any Hindu wedding venue in Leicester.

  • Will every guest see the mandap? Pillars are the silent spoiler of many halls. Ours is pillarless.
  • Can my decorator get in early enough? Our 12-hour booking includes set-up and pack-down time.
  • Where will 800 guests park? We have a 350+ space free, private, floodlit car park on site. Save a fortune on parking fines.
  • Can I use my own caterer? Yes, or choose from our partner network.
  • Can elderly relatives get around easily? Yes. The hall is step-free throughout, with accessible toilets.

For a full planning list, read our Hindu wedding venue checklist. If your family is Gujarati, the Gujarati wedding page covers garba nights and mandvo traditions, and our wedding packages explain the banqueting, bar and upgrade options.

Popular Saturdays and auspicious dates book up early, so secure your date as soon as your muhurat is fixed.

Hindu wedding FAQs

Hindu wedding questions, answered.

Can we hold the Hindu wedding ceremony and the reception in the same hall?
Yes. Most families do. The mandap sits at the head of the 1,100m² pillarless hall with guest seating facing it, and the same room becomes the reception once the pheras are complete. Your decorator can turn the space around between ceremony and reception within the 12-hour booking.
Is a havan or sacred fire allowed for the pheras?
Families regularly ask about the agni for the pheras. Tell us how your priest plans to set up the havan kund and we will agree the arrangements with you and your mandap decorator before the day. Anything involving a live flame must be cleared with the team first.
Can our caterer serve a fully vegetarian menu?
Yes. Maher Centre does not do catering itself, so your menu is entirely between you and your caterer. Many families choose pure vegetarian menus, and Jain requirements are handled by the caterer. Beef and pork are not served on the grounds of the Maher Centre.
How early can the mandap decorator get in?
Your booking covers a full 12 hours including supplier set-up and pack-down. Suppliers typically use around two hours at each end, so the mandap, stage and table décor can all be in place before guests arrive. Tell us your muhurat time and we will plan the timings around it.
Where does the baraat arrive?
The baraat gathers in our 350+ space free private car park and processes to the main entrance, so the dhol and dancing happen on venue grounds rather than a public street. Planning a horse or a special vehicle? Agree it with your event manager. Fireworks are allowed, subject to written approval.
How many guests can attend a Hindu wedding at Maher Centre?
Up to 1,000 guests seated banquet-style, or around 800 with a dance floor for the reception. For a ceremony with theatre-style seating facing the mandap, the hall holds up to 1,500.
How much does a Hindu wedding at Maher Centre cost?
Every wedding is quoted individually, because the date, guest numbers and the packages or upgrades you choose all affect the total. Ask for a free written quote. We also offer a price-match promise across all packages and optional extras.
Can we see the hall before we book?
Yes. Venue tours are by appointment and take about 30 minutes. Bring your mandap decorator if you like, so they can see the stage area and access for themselves.
